Sailing Corfu

A lovely breeze in the sails. Dive overboard in the middle of the sea, float, bob up and down, swim, let yourself be pulled along by a yacht over the softly humming waves at her stern. Dolphins at portside. A tranquil bay with wide beaches. A herd of goats graze between flowering cacti. Moor in a small fishing port. Terraces are waiting on the quay, bathed in the red glow of the setting sun. The menu: fresh lobster and white Greek wine.

Ionian adventure

Ionian Sailing Adventure or ISA, Marjan Hoogendoorn's enterprise arranges this sailing holiday on Corfu. Marjan is an experienced skipper. Together with her staff she takes care that the yachts are in tip-top condition and map out a perfect holiday sailing trip, always accompanied by experienced flotilla crew. They have been doing this for over 15 years. Exactly as the name promises: an Ionian Sailing Adventure.

The sailing area

On one side the green island Corfu. Ancient villages, farms, hills, beaches, friendly harbours. On the other side the mainland of Greece, mountains, bays, more harbours, ouzo and hospitality. In between, the eternally blue Ionian Sea. Beautiful islands such as Paxos, Anti Paxos and Mourtos/Sivota. Sunny and sub-tropical.
The sea: sheltered but still open. Safe and at the same time full of adventure. Here, every day brings a view of a new shore.

The flotilla

In the morning a captain’s meeting. Where shall we go, how shall we do it? Then – after a cup of freshly brewed coffee – you plot your own route, plan your own trip. Navigation is easy because you can see the whole coastline. The flagship with its experienced crew is always nearby, easily summoned – a very safe feeling.
Standing out against the horizon are the other ships of the flotilla. You have contact via the marine telephone. Towards the evening you meet up at the mooring place. Lingering dinners in good company, long conversations until the last waves have died down and the last drop is gone.

The route

There are basically two routes, which complement each other perfectly. One week to the northern bays, the other week to the southern islands. In between there is a wide choice of ports. We sail between 15 to 25 sea miles a day. You will have enough time to swim, lie in the sun or visit some of the picturesque villages.
The bays: Agni, Stefanos and Vatatsa. The harbours: Petreti, Platarias, Sayiadha (where they serve the best shrimps in the region) and Parga. The islands: Mourtos-Sivota, Paxos (with the beautiful villages Lakka and Gaios) and Anti-Paxos (there’s is no better place to snorkel).

Family flotilla

Special for families with children we organize this summer again forth night flotilla’s. The advantage is that this group stays together the full two weeks, and have more time to explore the mainland and the islands Paxos & Anti Paxos. With free sailing days there is time to play on the beach the full day (what does the kids want more?) No saying goodbye to their new friends after 6 days.
Family flotilla in spring holiday: Specially for the small children, since the sun won't be so hot yet. We will consider the small children extra, but boats without children are welcome too! This is a 1 or 2 week flotilla.

Bare boat

The more experienced sailor may want a more individual adventure. He or she can crew a bare boat. Alone with boat, wind, water, and in an excellent sailing area. You can travel a long distance in the Ionian Sea. You just chart your own course for a couple of weeks. The yacht has all the facilities you need. You can anchor where and when you want. You know that, if necessary, the leader of the flotilla will advise and assist you.
